Dear LPS families,

I think our true warm Spring is finally arriving! We have been enjoying some sunny walking trips, outdoor time, and smiles on the playground! We have lots of field trips coming up in the next couple of weeks. Remember to keep an eye on ParentSquare for any details from our wonderful teachers.

Thank you, car line families, for all your help improving our car line safety! Our staff, drivers, and student drivers have been feeling much safer lately.

One more adjustment we ask for is that dogs stay in cars. Not all of our students are comfortable with dogs and their added unpredictability makes a safe dismissal trickier. Thank you!

Summer Food and Care Support The Sunshine Bus is a summer outreach program through the TCAPS Student Support Network (SSN) that delivers free food (provided by the Father Fred Foundation) and basic needs items (provided by SSN) directly to children and families throughout the Traverse City community. We do not turn any child away who needs a food bag- whether they are enrolled in TCAPS or not. We do request that the child(ren) be present to receive them.

Vaccine Clinic The Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department is hosting a “Get School-Ready” Vaccine Clinic for families preparing for next school year! This is a great opportunity for incoming Kindergarten and 7th grade students to get up to date on required school immunizations before the busy back-to-school season begins.

The Leelanau County clinic will take place on June 16 from 3–7 PM by appointment at the Leelanau Office. Convenient, local, and no-cost options are available for eligible families. Please see the flyer for more information and scheduling details!

Art Trip to Dennos Museum HS art students experienced many different “stories” as they toured the Dennos Museum on Friday. They ended their experience by creating their own artwork based on a museum artwork. These will be on display outside the art room.

Congratulations to our students whose artwork was on display as part of the NMC HS Juried Art Show: Keira, Jessie, Maya W, and Natalie. Congratulations to Jessie for placing first, best of show. 

Senior Class Trip The Class of 2026 recently returned from a memorable trip to Chicago filled with fun, great experiences, and plenty of memories. Students enjoyed a Chicago Cubs game along with a special pre-game tour of Wrigley Field. The class also explored the exhibits at Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum. Between sightseeing, shopping, and trying lots of great food, students had an amazing time together celebrating their senior year. A special thank you goes out to chaperones Tiffany Burda, Steve Oosse, and Matt Peschel for helping make this such an incredible experience for our seniors.
