The Principal's Update

Dear LPS families,

Congratulations on the completion of a wonderful school year! I am so proud of our students' hard work and incredibly thankful for our community. Thank you to every single parent, chaperone, donor, coach, mentor, spectator, fan, tutor, volunteer, and driver…  It truly takes a village to support our amazing Comets!

Remember to complete our Strategic Plan survey by the end of day Friday, 6/12. We have about 30 parent responses and are hoping for many more!

This last Comet Weekly has basic information about summer timelines. Please save this message to reference as needed.

Summer Office Hours: 
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9 am to 1 pm

June:
  • Report cards sent home digitally Friday, June 12
  • LPS technology due back to office by June 30
  • Principals available by appointment (email for appt)

July:
  • Office closed July 6-10
  • Fall sports registration begins July 1
  • Late fees added for missing technology/unpaid bills July 1
  • Principals on vacation, Superintendent in office (email for appt)

August:
  • Fall sports parent meeting August 5th, 6 pm in PAC
  • Welcome Email for 2026-2027 sent August 7th
  • Whole-School Open House and Dinner, August 26th, 5:00-7:00
  • Principals available by appointment (email for appt)

Recently at LPS

Members of the Class of 2030 and their families recently gathered for a celebration at the Old Art Building to mark the conclusion of this group's middle school years. The parent-organized event included volleyball, bean toss, a potluck dinner, and a slideshow of these classmates reaching back to their Kindergarten years at LPS and all the iconic field trips and Comet memories since. One highlight of the evening was the arrival of some very special guests: a few of their teachers. We are so proud of the Class of 2030, our rising high schoolers!

8th Graders Move Up Congratulations to our 8th graders as they officially transition from middle school to high school! The 8th Grade Transition Ceremony celebrated their hard work, growth, and accomplishments while marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

5th Grade Graduation Mrs. Knudsen and Mr. Kelenske proudly celebrated their 5th grade students during a special graduation ceremony marking the end of their elementary school journey. Surrounded by family, friends, and staff, they reflected and looked ahead to the exciting opportunities awaiting them in middle school. Congratulations 5th graders!

Popsicle Send Off What a wonderful way to wrap up another school year! Families, students and staff gathered the Last Day of School Send-Off, celebrating the end of a fantastic year with popsicles on the turf. After enjoying a sweet treat together, teachers waved goodbye to busses as students headed into summer break. Thank you to the LPS PTO for organizing this fun tradition.
