The Principal's Update

Dear LPS families,
Last night was our annual Forever Dig Abby night, a volleyball charity event started in 2010 to honor Leland student Abby Gross and her battle with cancer. The event has continued yearly, long beyond Abby’s passing in 2015, and each year our community rallies to support someone in their battle with cancer.

Last night’s benefactor was my sister-in-law, Sara Caldwell, and I cannot even begin to express how special this evening was for her in her cancer journey. Sara is my family’s closest parenting partner, the one who picks up the kids, picks up the pizzas, picks up the slack. It was so special to see her honored and supported by the Leland and Suttons Bay communities. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This event was coordinated by Jane Lang in a major way. Thank you, Jane! If you missed it and would like to support the Dig Abby cause, you can connect with Jane via email at jlang@lelandschool.com.

In other news, Parent-Teacher Conferences are approaching! We have half days scheduled for conferences on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, October 28th and 29th.  All of our sign-ups happen in ParentSquare. Visit lelandschool.com/PTC to see all the sign-up links in one place.

Have a great weekend, and feel free to reach out with any questions,

Elementary Student Leadership

We have some amazing student leaders in our 5th grade class who have launched the very first Elementary Student Leadership group at Leland. The group is small so far, but they are mighty! They have big plans to bring our Elementary School together next week for Elementary Spirit Week. Let's join them in dressing up!

Monday: Pajama Day - Stay Comfy
Tuesday: Crazy Hair Day - Get Creative
Wednesday: 80s Day - Dress for the Decade
Thursday: Wear Your Favorite Jersey Day
Friday: Purple and Gold Day - Wear Your School Colors!

After conferences at the end of October, our Elementary Student Leadership group will begin accepting new 5th grade applicants. Student Leaders will work every Friday during morning recess to plan school-wide events, solve student issues, and design fun activities.

Wait...Am I A PTO Member?

Yep.
There are no PTO dues. No membership form. No special sign-up.
If you have a student at Leland Public School, you’re already part of the PTO.
The Impact Fund is simply our annual invitation to help fund the work we do throughout the school year.
Maybe you give $10. Maybe you give $100. Maybe you’re not able to give this year. Everyone is welcome, and every contribution makes an impact.
Come be part of it.
To contribute, drop a check in the office (made out to Leland PTO) or send your donation via Venmo (@Leland-PTO)
