Learning through Transitions

Leland middle school teachers excel at turning Michigan’s state standards into meaningful, student-centered learning. By adapting instruction to meet the unique needs of every class, our educators ensure students build the confidence and skills needed for state assessments (M-STEP) and life into high school. English Language Arts flows into 6-8 to build on the skills using the continuation of Wit and Wisdom. Mathematics shifts during 6-8 to follow CPM which focuses on problem based learning, collaborative study groupings and mixed spaced practice. 

During middle school, students transition to the A/B Block Day Schedule. While many courses are standard for each grade year, students begin choosing elective courses from a curated selection which blend interest areas in STEM, theater as well as more practical options.
